Beyonce said it best “we’re smart enough to make these millions, strong enough to bear the children… then get back to business”

This statement is just a small testament of a woman’s capability, so why must society try to place women in a box? Why does society make it to where a woman has to choose one path, as if women are not some of the strongest creatures God has ever created? To put a woman in a box means to minimize her potential and her creativity. Please note that by preventing a woman from reaching her full true potential, you prevent the families, the communities and the world from reaching their full potential, because THAT’S how powerful a woman’s influence is.

Stop trying to break a woman down by pinning her against her sister or by encouraging the belief that one’s profession, aspiration, priorities are any greater than the next. Yes, it is true that woman can be well-educated with her priorities together and still have fun on the weekend and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that! Remember, we only see the surface and it is so important not to judge a book by its cover. Sometimes the difference between a woman who chooses to be in the club versus a woman who chooses not to be, is simply: we’ve just been taught to celebrate our victories differently, we’re all winning!

The stay at home mom isn’t any better than a working woman. A business owner isn’t any better than an employee (hell, business owners need employees!! I am not encouraging people to be content with working for someone else their entire life, but understand that we all need each other!!! We are all on different paths, and at different points, in our lives). The wife isn’t better than the single woman. The teacher isn’t better than the student. We all just have our own unique strengths and the reality is most of us haven’t even tapped into the area we need to be in just yet. The thing with strengths is that, where there are strengths, there are weaknesses, and that is okay too. Instead of being in competition with another woman see how you two can benefit from one another because there is power in numbers. Don’t allow society to dictate what you see in women.

In my 29 years, I have met thousands and thousands of women and guess what? They have all been uniquely different coming in all different shapes, sizes and colors. They hold an array of professional titles: teachers, doctors, nurses, lawyers, judges, CEO, bus drivers, salesperson, motivational speakers, poets, dancers, painters, singers, program coordinators, fashion consultants, CNAs, social workers, financial advisors, realtor, stay-at-home mom, among so many others.

I encourage all QUEENS to live in our own truths. Capitalize on our strengths and be damned good at it.

Always know:  A QUEEN CAN BE WHATEVER THE HELL SHE WANTS TO BE… so be just that and take pride in it.
